Zebunnisa's Tomb & Garden:

Zebunnisa was the talented and learned daughter of Aurangzeb. She was a great poetess and wrote under the pen name of 'Makhfi'. Addressing the waterfall in the Shalamar Garden, She sang;
" O waterfall why are you lamenting,
And what grief wrikles your face?
What was your pain, that all through the night,
You were striking your head on the rocks and crying".
Zebunnisa loved Lahore and built a garden at Nawankot where she was burried after her death in 1669 AD. Her tomb was once furnished with costly stones, pavilions and fountains. The remains of her extensive garden still exist with its central gateway and two corner towers, and speak high of the elegant taste of this 17th century Mughal Princess.
